Before heading off to another country, it’s generally a good idea to get a bit of the lingo under your belt before you arrive. The good old “hello”, “thank you”, “one croissant please”. You know the drill.
However sometimes, you may be visiting multiple countries and it’s not practical to learn bits of five new languages at the same time. Or maybe you don’t have much prep time. But most likely is that you can’t really be bothered because everyone speaks English these days anyway (wrong attitude to have, but let’s gloss over that for today).
Luckily for you, I am here to tell you that you only need to learn one word!
So no more suspense. The wonderful word is “cheers”.
I can currently say cheers in 11 different languages, and by the end of the year, that number will have increased to about 16. So next time you are about to head off to the airport, quickly google the local word for “cheers”, take a screenshot on your phone, and commit it to memory. I promise it won’t let you down.
