Just this morning, I came across a really interesting opportunity to go live in Japan and learn Japanese for two years. It’s hard to say what draws me to this opportunity so much, but I think it is the chance to take on a whole new challenge that is well outside my current experience and comfort zone.
Japanese is supposedly the most difficult language for a native English speaker to learn. And having dabbled in the basics a few times, I can see why. However I can also see how my scientific background may be a huge asset in tackling such a mammoth task. Since there is a whole new alphabet and speaking style to be learned, it seems to me that it would be wise to approach it with the analytical and organised approach that comes so naturally to me.
UPDATE- I was half way through writing this post, got interrupted and now suddenly it is nearly 11pm. So sorry for cutting it short but I ain’t losing my 65 day streak!
